Volume 17: Overexcitability, Dynamisms, and the Gifted Self
Discover Dabrowski’s concepts anew through translation, analysis, and research in Vol. 17. Michael Piechowski’s translation of Kazimierz Dabrowski’s Types of Increased Psychic Excitability, published in 1938, provides the first description of types of overexcitability. Dynamisms are explored in Benislawska’s philosophical analysis of shame and in Mannisto’s retrospective analysis of her father’s life. Research into the developmental levels of maladjusted young people was conducted by Lelonek-Kuleta. The complexity of giftedness is highlighted in Thiel, Nauta, and Derksen’s qualitative study of self-definition by gifted adults and Kuipers’ examination of authenticity and the factors necessary for a more accurate self-image. The amazing poetry of Plett Gerardy and two book reviews round out this volume.
